Kansas Prairie Pickers Association

The Kansas Prairie Pickers Association is a music organization in northeast Kansas interested in the preservation of Bluegrass and Old Time acoustic music. We get together on the fourth Sunday of October through April at the Community Center in Auburn, Kansas, with open jam sessions and stage performances by area bands and other groups. On the second weekend in June we have our annual festival at Prairie Lake, close to Holton, Kansas. Our members are in several area bluegrass bands and are available for hire. Hope you browse through our web site and get a feel for who we are. Better yet, come on out and jam with us a while!

The Auburn Jams are over! Happens every year about this time. So, now it's time for the festivals.

Our KPPA festival this summer will be our 15th Annual, and be on June 12-14, 2008. Same place; Prairie Lake near Holton. The above link to the Festival page has been updated with the tentative bands.

Remember the Brown County Breakdown Bluegrass Fetival, too, organized by John Keim. More details on our calendar.

Doug Ruth has started a page with YouTube clips of local talent. Check it out at www.topekatunes.com.

We've scanned in the photos from our club's photo album and they are now available for all to see. Just click on the link from our main menu. Over 400 pictures! This will be an ongoing project, and we still have holes in the records. If you have digital pictures to share of club activities, please send them to John Payne at the email listed at the bottom of the page.

Still music to hear, so look at our calendar. Keep checking back for more info on the local acoustic scene.

Happy pickin'
