KAC's Supervisory Skills Certificate Program Fundamentals of Supervision

This workshop is the first of seven in the KAC's Effective Supervisory Skills Certificate program. The Fundamentals of Supervision offers a practical big picture look at the job of supervisor -- what it is and what's needed to be successful. Objectives include:

  • examine the roles, responsibilities and tasks of an effective supervisor
  • identify your individual supervisory strengths and areas that need improvement
  • learn how the county government environment impacts the supervisor's job, including ethical obligations of the job
  • learn the most common mistakes made by supervisors and how to correct them
  • problem solve specific issues and dilemmas with supervisory peers.

Workshops are scheduled from 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. as follows:

  • October 17 -- Burlington, Coffey County Library
  • October 24 -- Lyons, Rice County Extension Office
  • October 31 -- Dodge City, Dodge City Community College
  • November 7 -- Wichita, Sedgwick County COMCARE

The KAC's Service Excellence Certificate Program  Planning and Organizing for Service

Careful planning of time, work tasks and professional development are essential skills that lay the foundation for service excellence in county government. This session will focus on the basics of personal management:

  • learn steps for organizing and staying organized for customer service
  • practice using a personal planner and other tools to effectively manage your time and work responsibilities
  • gain skill in setting priorities, and balancing work and personal life
  • learn the signs of unhealthy work stress and necessary steps to reduce it
  • acquire skills for planning and managing your professional growth and career development

Workshops are scheduled from 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. as follows:

  • September 25 -- Wichita, Sedgwick County COMCARE
  • October 2 -- Emporia, Emporia State University
  • October 11 -- Hays, Ellis County Environmental Health
