What is the Executive Management Series?

Successful response to the dynamics of change requires county leaders to continually acquire new knowledge, rethink time-honored assumptions, and enhance their competencies. The KAC Executive Management Series is one avenue leaders may pursue for their professional development in preparation for managing change.

The KAC Executive Management Series offers senior-level elected and appointed county leaders learning opportunities for leading and managing change for the benefit of the organization, its employees and the community. Seminars will be offered from time to time, and will focus emerging public policy as well as on core executive management skills in areas such as planning, finance, human resources and problem solving

Seminars provide a stimulating, interactive learning environment for county leaders to build on current skills through use of lecture, exercises, case studies and optional readings.

Who Should Attend?

  • Elected and appointed department directors and deputy department directors
  • County administrator seeking to refresh and update management skills
  • County commissioners especially from those counties without an appointed county administrator
  • County employees with technical expertise who are preparing to move into management positions

Registration Participation in executive management seminars will be limited; registration will be taken on a first-come, first-serve basis. Only officials and employees from Kansas counties are eligible to register. Optional reading may be assigned in advance of the seminar.
